How long does ETIAS take and how long is it valid?
Status as of 2026-10-25: ETIAS is not in operation and no applications are being collected. The EU says it will announce the start date "several months prior to its launch."
Processing time
- Most applications: within minutes.
- If it takes longer: a decision within four days.
- Extended by up to 14 days if you are asked for more information, or up to 30 days if you are invited to an interview.

Validity
- 3 years, or until the passport used expires, whichever comes first.
- New passport = new ETIAS.
- Multiple entries for short stays: up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Time in Cyprus is counted separately.
